Whispers in the Dark

Markus

Trees block out the starlight outside of the clearing. You find yourself standing there. Other figures are present, but their forms are obscured, indistinct. Red moonlight shines down on the circle you've prepared in the grass. You look down and see yourself holding something in your hand. Words stream forth from the lips of the others, and you find yourself joining them - the language is unknown, but the words themselves seem to just flow, as if you were reciting a well known poem in your native tongue. From the darkness you hear whispers. "Come to this place. Find me." Other whispers join it, and it feels right, like the words of a trusted mentor. The form in your hand seems to waver and become clearer at the same time, showing you a black feather. "Call me. I can help you. I'll give you the power you desire," the whispers repeat. You feel yourself falling to your knees and there's a sharp prick on your thumb - when you glance at it, it's bleeding, your other hand still pressing the sharply pointed tip of the feather against it. A drop of blood hits the ground as the chanting comes to a crescendo, then falls silent. The moonlight seems to pulse in time with everyone's hearts, and your vision blurs until it fades into blackness. "I'll be waiting."

Markus notes the scene around him- listening to the words- feeling the blood on his hands… It's all too surreal- wait, hands? He doesn't have a left hand anymore… this is…! He wakes up, breathing heavy as he clutches his chest. He's back in his bed inside of his room- safe and sound. "Power…" he whispers to himself. Oh boy- Markus would love more power. After all, he was going to become the strongest!

Elspeth and Cass

Standing. Standing on your own two feet in the relative darkness. Other figures are present, but their forms are… hazy. They don't matter anyway. You notice you're holding something and chanting slowly - it's not a language you recognize, but the words come easily, clearly, as if you've been reciting for this all your life. The red moonlight is all you need to see the circle before you in the grass. "Come to this place. Find me," come whispers from the darkness around you, beyond the lit area. The object you're holding resolves itself into a pitch black feather, with a tip so sharp it could double as a needle. Other whispers join the voice as you fall to your knees - knees that still easily support you. "Call me. I can help you. We can help each other," the whispers repeat, sounding right, good, as if from a trusted mentor or friend. There's a sharp prick on your thumb, and you notice blood welling up - you see you did this to yourself, using the sharp end of the feather to create the tiny wound. A drop of blood hits the ground as the chanting comes to a crescendo, then falls silent. You feel your heart beating as one with the other figures, and the moonlight seems to almost pulse in time with it. Your vision blurs and fades as you hear the final whisper, "I'll be waiting…"

Elspeth's eyes open in seconds, waking up in cold sweats. That was such.. an odd dream for a girl that hardly ever dreamt, much less about something like that.. it was odd.. Did it mean something? Dreams had to mean something.. maybe something was reaching out to her..? She looks over at Sebastion besides her, it didn't matter.. she'd look into it later.. what it meant, there had to be a reason of some sort.. right?

Cass gasped awake. Now, dreams where they were walking on their own two feet were common enough, but eldritch summoning? Cass usually only daydreamed about that. Razor feathers, now that was new entirely. Something in them told Cass this wasn't just a dream. A quick glance to Callum, still a sleeping mountain around them. After the initial shock wore off, a grin spread across their face. Hell. Yes.

Jinx
Magic hums in the air, almost palpable to your senses. Magic… and something deeper, more primal and powerful. Through the darkness you see a clearing, lit by the red moonlight. Another moment and you're there, standing in that clearing by a circle. Several other figures are with you, but their forms are obscured and difficult to make out. It doesn't matter. They - and you, you notice - are chanting the same thing, words that steam out unbidden in a language unknown. They're here for the same thing you are - the whispers that steam into your mind and your ears. "Come to this place. Find me." The voice seems carried more on magic than the wind, and hints of power ride along with it, showing what manner of being it belongs to. Other whispers join it, and you somehow know they speak only truth. "Call me. I can help you. I can give you the one you desire," the whispers repeat. There's a sharp prick against your thumb, and you notice only now that you were holding a black feather, the tip of it pressing against the blood welling up from your self-inflicted wound. A drop of blood hits the ground as the chanting comes to a crescendo, then falls silent. The moonlight seems to pulse with your heart, as your heart beats in time with the others'. Your vision begins to fade into darkness like that you find all around you as you hear the final whisper. "I'll be waiting."

Jinx wakes up, and looks around her room. "That… Uh…" Well, better than most of the dreams she's had recently. Power. That would be fun. She probably should find it. Who doesn't want power. She mulls this all over as she tries to get back to sleep.
