Demeanor: Friendly, but a bit shy. Especially when in girl-mode.
Nature: Friendly and shy. :P
Stephen: Stephen is a pretty nondescript boy of about 14 years old. He has only just begun to enter puberty and so he is still a bit scrawny for his age. He is 5'8" with light brown hair worn in a simple short cut. He is nearsighted, so he tends to wear glasses which contribute to his slightly nerdy look.
Stephanie: As Stephanie, she is actually rather cute (much to her chagrin). She has begun to develop into a woman and her body has begun to take on subtle curves. She is shorter than when Stephen and has long blonde hair, reaching down to the middle of her back. Unlike Stephen, she has perfect 20/20 eyesight, so she does not wear any glasses.
HP and Psyche start at 6, can't raise during creation, but add 1/2 of Brawn to HP.
Brawn, Agility and Brains start at 1 each, starting cap 4, total cap 6, and you get 5 points to distribute among them.
Things your character is good at, things normal people can do
Skills rolls add their associated stat as well (Brawn, Agility or Brains). You get 12 points to spend on skills at creation, with a starting cap of 4 and total cap of 6.
- Computers (3) Brains
- Gymnastics (3) Agility
- Academics (3) Brains
- Craft (3) Brains
These are things you're character accomplishes via their power.
Abilities/Powers should be fairly broad, but look at other characters for good examples. They can grow over time, so don't worry if you start on the small side! You get 7 points to spend on powers at creation, with a starting cap of 4 and total cap of 7. Powers add your Tier to their rolls, usually.
Witchcraft - 4 - When in the form of Stephanie she is able to sense, manipulate, and call upon the magic inherent in the world. Using spells she is able to channel the natural magical energies within herself and the world to accomplish any number of tasks. Some examples would be moving objects, generating fire/flame from nothing, casting bolts of magical energy with various elemental affinities, minor curses/hexes, temporary transfigurations, etc.
An important aspect of Stephanie's witchcraft is that she only has access to her powers when she is in a female form and her powers will often manifest at seemingly random times, causing her to transform into her female form.
Imbue Magic - 3 - This ability encompasses the ability to imbue magical spells into objects. For example, she could imbue a charm with a magical power to provide some protection from the cold, or ward off evil spirits. This also would include the ability to brew potions that perform various effects. (Example, potions such as in Harry Potter, etc). However, proper recipes must be followed in order to create potions. Similarly, charms may require that they be made of certain components for the magical charm to work.
Since Stephanie is only able to work magic while in her female form, she would not be able to create potions or charms in her male form. With that said, she could create the basis of the potion or charm (e.g., mix the ingredients, form the charm's materials) as Stephen, but she would not be able to imbue magic into the potion or charm until she became Stephanie again.
Things that cause problems for your character, often side effect of your powers (or of having your powers), not necessary. Not just 'limitations' of your powers.
- When in male form, Stephen has no special weakness beyond those of a normal human.
- When in female form, Stephanie becomes vulnerable to the herb Rue, also known as Witch Bane. The herb is extremely poisonous to her and simply being in its presence (within a few feet) is enough to make her feel weak. Touching the herb can temporarily block her ability to cast spells and use magic.

Magic has always run in Stephen's family, though it has always been limited to the women of the family. In the early 1200s, it was foretold that the first female child born to the family after the new millennium would be blessed with an abundance of magical potential and skill. Over the hundreds of years, the family moved and changed and some of the old foretellings were forgotten.
Eventually, Stephen's family wound up in America in the 1800s and it is here that they have resided since.
In the year 2004 Stephen and his twin sister was born. It was his sister that was to be the embodiment of the ancient foretelling. Even as a young child she showed a tremendous amount of skill and aptitude with magic, performing incantations well beyond that expected for her age.
Her brother Stephen, on the other hand, was not so blessed. As was usual in the family, Stephen did not possess any magical talent. Instead he cast his attention to technology, trying to find a way to replicate some of his sister's abilities through the creative use of technology.
Stephen's sister was close to her brother, as twins so often are, and she felt sorry for him that he was not able to use magic as she was. So she began to research in private, searching for a way to share her magic with her brother.
After many months of research she was sure that she had found the way to split her magical talent with her brother, allowing them to both share the gift. She decided to cast the spell on the night before their birthday so that he would awaken with the gift.
The spell encompassed several tasks, including a complicated incantation and a potion that both must drink. Stephanie followed the steps of the spell to the letter. She brewed the potion, imbuing it with a share of her own essence. After dinner she slipped the potion into cup of tea that she prepared for herself and her brother. With the potion flowing through their systems, her brother went to sleep and she returned to her room to complete the final incantation.
Unfortunately, the spell did not go as Stephanie had expected. Rather than dividing her power between her brother and herself, it instead imbued her brother with her entire being and her power. He awoke the next morning in his sister's form.
There was a scream of surprise and much confusion with the family, but Stephen eventually convinced them of who he was. His sister, on the other hand, was nowhere to be found. After a few hours, Stephen returned to his own form and since then has changed between his form and his sister's form, seemingly at random.
As for his sister, she now exists as a spirit that only Stephen can see and hear. She helps him with his magic and study, as well as simply being a girl, but has decided to essentially allow him to live their life. Thus far, neither Stephen nor Stephanie have found a way to reverse the spell that she had cast.
Stephen eventually learned that when he was in his sister's form he was able to access her magical power. As the years went on, he began to learn magic must as his sister had. When he reached the appropriate age he was sent to Sunnybrook Academy where he would continue his education.
In general, Stephen changes his form at seeming random. However, when in danger his power will often sense this and cause a change to his female form so that she can utilize her magic to protect herself.
