Marcus Florentine

Basic Info:

Player: Karaoke Not the name of your character

Demeanor: A look at this child gives an unsettling feeling. He looks cold and cunning, always talking to the marble white skull that rested on his back. He always laughs in a sinister fashion and only appears to be interested in things that can benefit him… Though often the obsession with the skull can lead to rather drastic measures to accomplish things that may not be very wise or healthy for the young boy.

Nature: This boy in reality is a tortured soul, enslaved by birth. All he has ever known is the demon masters that speak to him through the skull of his father fused to his back forever due to the shadow magic. He really does wish to have a normal life as permitted, but has had his sanity slowly stripped from him due to the link between his soul and his demonic masters in hell.

Description: He is short, which would be expected when the life force is completely drained from someone. His skin is also pale and cold, feeling more like a corpse than an actual living being. He normally wore a blood red shirt with black highlights as well as black pants. The most defining feature was the bleached skull that was on his back. The jaw of the skull was always pointed to his head, soft whispers coming from it to influence the boy's actions. To go along with the demonic whispers, he had two large metal and intricately shaped braces on his wrists, holding back the power the boy had so he would not destroy himself with his own dark magic.

HP and Psyche start at 6, can't raise during creation, but add 1/2 of Brawn to HP.
Brawn, Agility and Brains start at 1 each, starting cap 4, total cap 6, and you get 5 points to distribute among them.

HP: 6

Brains: 4

Things your character is good at, things normal people can do
Skills rolls add their associated stat as well (Brawn, Agility or Brains). You get 12 points to spend on skills at creation, with a starting cap of 4 and total cap of 6.

  • Insanity - (4) Brains What he sees and hears is vastly different from what regular people see and hear. He sees more, he hears more, and he gets frustrated when people can't understand him.
  • Athleticism - (4) Agility Though he is small and does not look impressive, he is gifted with insane speed and dexterity, being able to jump and run incredibly fast was well as being skilled with the way he uses his fingers and hands.
  • Willpower - (4) Brains It's not that his mind can't be read and looked into…. It's just that it's not for the faint of heart. Even the mighty would cower with the atrocities that work to repel people out of his mind and keep the conversations between him and his masters secret and safe.

Supernatural Abilities:

These are things you're character accomplishes via their power.
Abilities/Powers should be fairly broad, but look at other characters for good examples. They can grow over time, so don't worry if you start on the small side! You get 7 points to spend on powers at creation, with a starting cap of 4 and total cap of 7. Powers add your Tier to their rolls, usually.

Shadow Magic - 4 - He is gifted in the arts that nobody wants to practice due to the taboo nature of how the power is gained. Normally when a person uses the dark magics, they must use blood to learn the spells and use their own blood and life force as a medium for the power to flow through, often leaving the caster's life expectancy only a few short years of unlimited power. Marcus does not have to use blood. The blood sacrifices have already been made for him at birth. Instead his shadow magic comes directly from his demon masters and only has the effect of draining his energy and securing his soul firmer into the pits of hell. His known spells are as follow:

-Shadow Pain: If he casts the spell, he may choose a concentrated area of a body and shoot acute pain through the area suddenly. This cannot kill, but it can disable if the person does not know how to deal with this pain.

-Shadow Melt: He can melt into a shadow and move around in it, so long as he stays within the confines of a shadow. He can only jump shadows if they touch and become one large mass.

-Shadow Secret: His very own voice becomes a weapon as he throws his voice around, making it sound like he is everywhere at once, throwing off and distracting his prey enough for him to strike.

-Summon Husk: He raises a silent and fragile husk of bone and flesh to take a hit or to mindlessly attack an enemy. He only has the brains and the speed of a zombie that forgot how to walk.

-Shadow Flame: HE can summon large flames in an area, burning who are foolish enough to stand inside the ring of black flames. This has the highest strain on his body as it has the capability of deadly force.

Skull Link - 3 - In dire cases, he may transform using the skull on his back. It will crawl up and cover his face and head and his body will temporarily change to the form of a demon, presumably one of his masters. His Brawn and Agility will greatly increase, but only for a very short amount of time. He must however request permission, and these permissions and deals with the devils always have their price.

Things that cause problems for your character, often side effect of your powers (or of having your powers), not necessary. Not just 'limitations' of your powers.

  • The holy powers of the church will leave him stunned and in great pain. This includes artifacts such as a blessed cross, holy water, or even the cathedrals themselves. Whenever he has been exposed to them, he is unable to use his powers or hear the whispers for a time proportionate to how long the exposure was.

Personal History:

Marcus Florentine was not a natural birth. He is the result of a raped mother and a man who was a fanatic of the cult of demons. His conception was gruesome, a young teenage woman being plucked from nowhere to be raped by this man while being watched by men in dark robes and hoods. The day of birth was not pleasant by a long shot. While many parents celebrate births with hugs, kisses and love, this birth was celebrated by bloodshed and sacrifice. The mother of Marcus was unrecognizable. His father only remained as a polished skull. Marcus himself was bathed in a pool of his father's blood while the men in the darkened hoods chanted. His soul was a promise to the Demon Masters on the very day of his birth. He would spend his childhood learning the ways of the forbidden magics from the Dark Elders while the skull of his father had slowly started to become merged with him, feeding him promises of power unimaginable. He would curse the day the elders were murdered by the ones in white and ruined the life he had grown to love. Using the powers taught to him, he escaped to live on the streets, cursing the light and loving the dark, all led by his father. On his fourteenth birthday, nine years after he was cast into the streets, his father had told him to go to the site of his birth. There he found the source of the whispers, the Demon Masters were waiting. Without hesitation he threw himself to them, begging for the power that was his birthright. They merely smiled, holding out their hands and ripping out the boy's soul from his body, trapping it within the skull on his back. His skin turned pale white and his hair turned coal black, yet he was still allowed to keep his mind and wits. He realized the cost of power too late, and was unable to redeem himself. Instead of simple being able to hate holy artifacts, they caused him physical harm. His power came great with no cost, but he was unable to use them to please himself. The masters, using the skull as the messenger vessel now owned his life and his desires. He was lucky the GWU came in to take him and bring him to Sunnybrook to try and fix him. The masters will be pleased.
