Demeanor: A free spirit. Perhaps a bit too much so. Lily has problems with impulse control at times, and consequences don't seem to be at the forefront of her mind. Whatever it takes to stay happy, or at the very least entertained. Easily bored, and easily distracted, Lily is the poster child for the misguided youth of a generation. Not hyperactive or over the top, she simply enjoys life or projects that image at least. Seeing her favorite bands, smoking weed under the bleachers, skipping classes for pretty much any other distraction.
Nature: She was always a troubled kid. Problems with authority, issues with self control. In truth it is a coping mechanism. With no real family to speak of, and now a unwilling student at a 'Prison school'. Playing the outgoing troublemaker seemed a good enough way to make friends, or at least entertaining acquaintances.
Description: Lily is pretty short, only around 5'4". Pale skinned with what appears to be bleached out hair. Her eyes are a dull green with flecks of grey. Her style is some what eclectic, varying from ratty jeans and t-shirts to sun dresses, to some steampunk cosplay monstrosity. Her ears both hold two piercings, through the lobe and a helix piercing above. In addition her left nostril has a ring piercing.
HP and Psyche start at 6, can't raise during creation, but add 1/2 of Brawn to HP.
Brawn, Agility and Brains start at 1 each, starting cap 4, total cap 6, and you get 5 points to distribute among them.
Things your character is good at, things normal people can do
Skills rolls add their associated stat as well (Brawn, Agility or Brains). You get 12 points to spend on skills at creation, with a starting cap of 4 and total cap of 6.
- Technowizard - (4) Brains A child of the digital age. Much of Lily's youth was spent on line either on computers, tablets or her phone. She has picked up a very strong working knowledge of how computers work, basic programming, and web design.
- You don't really think -I- did that? - (4) Brains Lily has learned just how to talk her way out of trouble. She has had plenty of practice. Call it charm, call it charisma, call it very creative lying. She knows how to talk her way out of problematic situations.
- What's yours is mine. - (4) Agility The life of a delinquent often involves taking things that don't belong to you. Be it your parent's car keys, petty shoplifting, or simply using those sneaky paws to conceal that bag of weed on you before you get a patdown.
These are things you're character accomplishes via their power.
Abilities/Powers should be fairly broad, but look at other characters for good examples. They can grow over time, so don't worry if you start on the small side! You get 7 points to spend on powers at creation, with a starting cap of 4 and total cap of 7. Powers add your Tier to their rolls, usually.
Photomanipulation - 4 - Lily has the ability to bend and alter light. From simple changes light creating colorful light shows or brightening a room to creating blinding flashes similar to a flashbang. Another aspect of her light manipulation. She can bend light around herself or other to conceal herself or said person from view. While not perfect invisibility, when standing still the user is extremely difficult to pick out from the surroundings and while moving her surroundings appear blurry and somewhat distorted. This does of course leave Lily unable to see as well, but with proper control, when forced to move, it is possible to leave her eyes exposed so she may see, though such control is difficult at best.
Pew Pew - 3 - The more dangerous side of of her 'gifts'. With the ability to focus light to the point they burn and cause harm. Not an aspect of her powers she has a lot of control over as the need to use such things has never been her focus. It is the last ditch use only for self defense, a scary show, or writing her name on the hood of a teachers Buick.
Things that cause problems for your character, often side effect of your powers (or of having your powers), not necessary. Not just 'limitations' of your powers.
- While capable of manipulating light, there has to be an abundant enough source to manipulate. In a completely dark room, or on a particularly dark night her powers and next to useless as she has no source to manipulate.
List everything your character carries on their person here. Be reasonable.
- small glass pipe
- Cigarettes when she can get them
- Several permanent markers of varying colors
And everything that they keep in their dorm at SunnyBrook. Anything that's not listed here or in the section above will be difficult for the character to retrieve.
- Laptop computer
- Large music collection on a external hard drive
- Eclectic selection of clothing
- Old nearly thread bare teddybear
Not everyone has that picture perfect American childhood. Some people have parents who enjoy drugs, namely heroin. They don't grow up on a nice street with pretty houses and white picket fences. They grow up on streets with prostitutes, drug dealers, and subsidized housing. Lily did not have an easy childhood. Her parents were not present, usually pawned off on neighbors or her grandmother, or simply left to fend for herself after the age of five. It was this lack of presence that made sure no one noticed just how different she was.
For as long as Lily could remember the world was a bit different to her. Where people saw light as that stuff that helps you see, she saw it as a thing she could reach out and touch, interact with. Her childhood alone was spent in her room creating rainbows and shining images on her walls. She could create her own magical world to escape to until she was old enough to really escape.
Lily left home when she was 14. Old enough to get by. She stole what she had to, crashed on friends couches, made new friends she could bum a roof for the night from. She was surviving. Of course it could not last forever. Even with parents who didn't even bother looking for her, it was only a matter of time before she got picked up for petty theft. When they found her parents, who were in no state to raise her, she entered the system. Two years in a juvenile corrections facility, then another bouncing between foster homes. No one wanted the troubled kid, and Lily wanted nothing to do with stand in strangers that took her in for a government check. Her time in the system did help her find her love for all things digital. Something she had no access to in her impoverished youth. Soon she was 'borrowing' phones or stealing laptops just for something to pass the time with.
It all changed when Lily decided to show off her little gift while stoned with some friends. Lighting up the night sky just to get a rise out of the kids she hung around with. Of course minds were blown, but those kids were not the only ones to see it. A few calls to the police and the GWU was alerted to her presence. Within a couple weeks she had been picked up and found a whole new sort of school set on correcting her rebellious ways and teaching her to control her 'gifts'. She was a brand new student at Sunnybrook.
