Demeanor: Quiet, always polite, an unassuming young woman. She always offers a smile if someone should look her way, but usually does not seek company. She is usually found alone, her nose in a book, or doodling in a notebook.
Nature:There is a deep sadness in the girl. It's seen in her eyes, the smiles she puts on for others. Lonely, worried about associating with many others. There is always that fear of rejection, of being judged.
Description: Pretty by ,most standards. Amy dresses in modest clothing in doors, not revealing much. Out doors She is usually wearing a shawl and dark glasses and does her best to stay out of direct sunlight. What many would consider bookish, perhaps anti social, she always takes care of herself, but does not seem to have much of a grasp on the latest fashions.
Things your character is good at, things normal people can do
Skills rolls add their associated stat as well (Brawn, Agility or Brains). You get 12 points to spend on skills at creation, with a starting cap of 4 and total cap of 6.
- Artist - (3) Brains Amy is a talented artist. She can paint, but most of her focus is on drawing. She is secretly working on her own graphic novel, drawing, inking, and coloring each page herself.
- Stealth - (3) Agility She knows how to stay out of sight. Sometimes it is a matter of slinking back into a dark corner or moving around unseen in the dark. This is how she gets most of her human interaction. Watching from a distance, hidden, observing and living vicariously through others.
- Research - (3) Brains Reading has always been her first love, and countless hours spent in the library and book shops has given her a wealth of knowledge in locating obscure knowledge.
- Perception - (3) Brains Amy has always spent her life on the outside. Observing others, watching the shadows. Her gifts are unpredictable, and those she pulls from the darkness cannot always be trusted. She musty watch closely.
Shadow Manipulation - 3 - The ability to manipulate shadows and darkness. Amy can control the shadows, shaping them at will. They can be expanded outward to offer cover or drawn in tightly around her body, compressed to the point they form a hardened 'second skin'
Darklings - 4 - Creatures summoned from a darker plane. These small shadowy creatures are sentient, but very unintelligent. Capable of following commands but offer little help in combat or with physical labor. Pets and companions to Amy, often used to perform simple tasks such as following others, scouting, or retrieving small items. Control over these creatures takes most of her focus, should she lose that focus they creatures are prone to causing mischief before returning to their home.
Things that cause problems for your character, often side effect of your powers (or of having your powers), not necessary. Not just 'limitations' of your powers.
- Amy has harsh reactions to direct sunlight. She must keep herself covered when outside. Her ability to control her powers suffers greatly and extended exposure weakens her to the point of exhaustion.

Amy, born Nguyen Yejin, grew up Seoul, South Korea. The early years of her life were quite normal. She had a loving family, a good home, and a prosperous life. Amy always had good grades, she was an obedient daughter, and followed the traditions of Muism. That strong history of tradition and heritage her family followed shaped her into the person she is today, even as times grew harder. The trouble started at age 12, around the time puberty hit. She had started to notice the changes in her surroundings. Nightmares came to life in her bedroom each night. Shifting shadows and glinting white teeth in the darkness. Grades started slipping, she distanced herself from her friends, and finally would barely leave her room. Her parents took her to various doctors and psychologists, but they all seemed to give different answers. Hormones, depression, mental illness. That picture perfect life was crumbling around her. It was only when her parents started to see the shadows warp around their daughter that they started to understand. There was something very wrong with the sweet girl they had raised.
In her early teenage years, Amy spent most her time alone. Closed up in her room, or away from others in school. The once happy, social, girl was now a loner. She made few friends, and began to feel the brunt of teenage cruelty. Often picked on for her odd nature, the way she seemed to talk to herself, how she never tried to make friends. A feeling of loneliness was inescapable. Finding solace in the creatures that she had once thought to be birthed from her nightmares. Her parents did everything they could for their troubled daughter. Going as far as to move the entire family to the United States. They had family there, and a fresh start seemed the only answer. So life began anew for Amy. An Americanized name, a new school, new kids. It was a good shot at a normal life. Little changed however. Amy seemed to cut herself off more and more from the world. She could not find a way to relate to others anymore.
Years passed, life went on, and Amy grew into a young woman. Only a couple more years of high school left. She had learned to cope the best she could. She learned to pretend, to put on smiles and make herself seem more normal. She had a few friends in school, no one truly close, but she was surviving. It was not long after her 16th birthday that things took a turn for the worse. A practical joke, at Amy's expense from cruel children. Several other girl in her class thought it would be amusing to lock Amy in a closet as school was letting out. It was a cruel enough joke without the taunting through the locked door. Something inside her simply snapped. She remembered the screams most of all. As shadows seeped under the door, and those terrible little creatures she had taken as friends pulled themselves form the darkness. While not dangerous truly, they were enough to horrify the girls. The mischievous imps, without Amy's control, went about destroying many of the empty classrooms before retreating back into the shadows.
It was not long before the G.W.U. came. After being forced to clean up the mess at her school, there was little chance she would manage to stay with her family. She went with them willingly, knowing now she did not have control over this power inside her. Her parents were helpless. Torn between losing a daughter, and doing what was best for their troubled child. And so she was taken to Sunnybrook. A place she could meet others like her, learn control, and better her life. Or so she was told.
